This is our oldest daughter Amy, her husband Doug and their baby Ashlyn. I want to tell you about them. Amy graduated from OC in December 1994, with her degree in Early Childhood Education. She had been substitute teaching full time for a year and a half, but she hadn't been able to find a teaching position anywhere in Oklahoma. Then in the summer of 1996 she had a call from a Christian School in Houston. They asked her to come interview for the job they had open. She agreed to come. After her interview she signed a contract with them and started making plans to move to Houston. I might add her dad and I weren't very happy about the thought of her moving to such a huge city, so far away, by herself . But, she was excited about her new job. So, we moved her to Houston. She really liked her job there and we were very glad she was happy.
I believe it was right before she started her 2nd year of teaching Kindergarten, that she met Doug. He had just been transferred to Houston from New Orleans and he started going to church where Amy attended. They started dating each other soon after he moved there. It wasn't long that she was telling us that she really liked him. Then she brought him home with her to meet us. We had tickets for us to go to an OU game (which was where Doug had gone to school and gotten his degree in Geophysics). Well, from the moment they walked in the door, we were aware of the stars dancing in Amy's eyes! And it wasn't too long and we knew they were In Love! After they had dated for 3 years, they got married the summer of 2000. Then they moved into the brand new house Doug had just had built for them. They have been married 6 years now. In the spring of 2005, they had their first baby girl, Ashlyn. She is so Darling! They are such a sweet couple, and such wonderful parents.! We have never seen Amy so happy as she has been ever since she became a mother. She loves being a Mommy! So even though we are sad that they live so far away, we are sure that it was God's will that Amy move to Houston, because that's how she met her sweet husband.
